Niece's father-in-law is dead but no-one else I know (so far). Shovelled 60 wheelbarrow loads of silt out of back yard today.

Sent a text to my girlfriend about having spent the evening rubbing down a Dalek's balls, only to realise in horror after clicking send that it had gone to a woman who books me for freelance work!

Despite being mortified at the time, it's worked out quite well. Not only did the recipient appreciate starting the day off with a laugh, she's probably never going to forget me when there's work going!

RIP Nicholas Courtney, the world of Dr Who has lost a much treasured actor. Best wishes to his family.

RIP Nick Courtney, and thank you for being a part of that Doctor Who magic that made my childhood so special. Splendid chap.

Oh dear, that is very sad indeed. My earliest experiences of Dr Who were reruns of the first Jon Pertwee stories, and the Brigadier played a central part in defeating the Autons. Another one of the wonderful actors who has played a part of our childhoods, whether back in the seventies or the nineties. I'll always remember you in that kilt. RIP

A sad loss. The Brigadier was a key character, played by a fine actor. RIP Mr Courtney.

'The Brig' as personified by actor Nicholas Courtney was apart of my formative years. I shall miss both. "Chap with the wings, five rounds rapid" will live with me forever.
