About This File

The new (version 3) plans booklets should be used by those who wish to attain the highest degree of accuracy, when replicating the Daleks from the 1960s. However, because the (Version 2) plans in this booklet were used to build Daleks that appeared on TV after the show returned in 2005, they are now, effectively, the definitive blueprint for some of the classic Daleks from ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ and ‘The Witch’s Familiar’ etc. With this in mind, these plans have been retained as a legacy version, preserving the dimensions that were used for so many years, to build so many great Daleks. If you wish to build a classic Dalek as featured in the post 2005 show, then these are the plans you should use.

If you intend to use these plans to build a Dalek, please post a Build Diary of your progress on the Forum. Taking them without giving back to the community is considered very rude.

Released

These plans are now the Legacy version and have been replaced by the separate Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3 booklets. Please see the main description and the introduction on page 3 for more information on when to use these plans.

I built a scale model of this Dalek, reading cms for inches(1cm = 1 inch) several years ago from this plan.  The accuracy of the measurements is incredible and I am now thinking of building another.  As far as I can recall (I gave away the skirt to someone who wanted to build one so can't measure it now), it worked out about 2 feet tall, a nicely managed size for storage/transport. Thanks for the super plans, I remember downloading all the Dalek plans at the time, although I only built the one model.

I really do like this site. I am planning to build a small version of this model in about 1/6th scale. Wish me luck.

Beautiful plans. I'm currently building this full size from old Amazon boxes. It's going well so far!

I've been building my Genesis Dalek since 2003, yes 2003. Took my time because it was a hobby/thereapy after all and I wanted to get it right. I used these plans almost exclusively. anyone out there planning a build, my advice- DON'T! it will drive you mad. if you can afford it, go and buy one or do a small kit version. that said, I wouldn't be without it now, its lived with me for 14 years. The plans are the best start.
