About This File

The Dalek design which first appeared in 'Dalek' in 2005 Also known as the 'New Series Dalek Plans', this booklet was developed after extensive research and access to original screen-used props by Project Dalek Forum members.

Additional notes and comments have been included to help you along with your build. The plans also include dimensions for the 'cutting claw' attachment, as seen in The Parting Of The Ways.

Hi there @Waydeb At the bottom of page three it says "All units in these plans are listed in centimeters"

Cheers,

Can someone tell me how tall, wide and long the Dalek is in total and if a person could fit inside of it?

Those are questions for the Forum topics, rather than for plans comments. Both have already been discussed and a search will locate those topics.

One example is here. :)

What units are shown in the manual. It doesn't specify.

I believe it's in centimeters, but take that as a grain of salt, because I am unsure

Look at the bottom of page 3, where it clearly states the units of measurement.

It says I'm not permitted to download the file, is there something I have to do first?

There is a limit on the number of files that standard members can download each day/month. Maybe you reached the limit? There is more info about this in the FAQ section.

Since I always seem to misplace my paper version, I decided to download it. Unfortunately I can't seem to download the file. Even tho I haven't downloaded anything the last couple of days? Can anyone help me?

I also was searching for the FAQ section, can someone link it for me? 🙂

By definition, all plans are the illustrated dimensions of a given item. Daleks are no exception.

There is no parts list because there are no parts, beyond the smaller items listed in the plans. Each Dalek section needs to be scratch built from raw materials such as wood and fibreglass.

What you are referring to is not plans, it is build methodology. This can vary greatly, depending on which materials you choose to use.

The rest of the Forum is dedicated to dealing with that. Have a good read though the topics, particularly the Build Diaries. This will help you to understand the construction process.

Another useful (optional) resource is the Dalek Builders Workshop Manual, which documents the most popular build methods, step by step.

little quibble that would be an easy adition to the next booklet,

it is a pain in the neck trying to figure out the offset for the top and bottom of the shoulder section, i know there are templates to help but there are a lot of details it lacks like offset measurements  the biggest help would be to knowing how far either the back or front of the bottom of the shoulders is ahead of the neck centerline,

its hard to put into words the question message me and i can discuss further

Page 8 shows the front offset as 150. Everything else can be worked out from that, using the other measurements given in the second drawing.

For example, the inner-shoulder offset is 124. This is worked out using the other numbers:

150 + 13 (576 - 550 divided by 2) = 163

774 - 696 divided by 2 = 39

163 - 39 =124

Therefore the front (inner) offset from bottom to top is 124. The rear offset could be worked out in the same way, but either one will do.

For the life of me I cannot find the angles for the Fender base anywhere on this website despite it saying they are available here in the booklet. I'm trying to 3D model this and it's driving me crazy! Please help!

Ah, thanks for your quick response! Is there anyway to buy the engineering drawings as a physical copy?

Unfortunately not, but I think they are probably also available to download somewhere in the Forum topics, if you search around for them.

You should be able to obtain all the angles from what's in the plans. Just draw out the panels as shown and let the angles take care of themselves.

Hello! I'm about to 3d model the NSD soon and I noticed that maybe a measurement was missing or that I'm not reading the skirt dimensions properly...,most possibly the latter, I apologise if this is a very common question to ask, it's just that I came from 3d modelling the MK1 Shawcraft dalek and it's the dimension which I circled which is not there in the NSD version.

Thanks!

If panels 4 (the side panels) are parallel, which I think they are in the NSD, the measurement is given on the right. :)
