Running costs - though Roboman Zero Five Five has kept the cost of the powerchair classified, I've spent £15 on 5L white emulsion to paint inside the skirt, £8 on wood for the skirt/chassis frame, £4 on brackets for the same, and £5 on screws - plus £7 for 5L grey fence paint to protect/base coat the outside of the skirt. Though the dome and neck were free, I'm including the £20 petrol used to collect them.    Total outlay £69, and hopefully it will begin to take shape over the next week

It is indeed common for people to make one "motorised power unit" that they can switch between multiple projects. On this forum we see it with multiple daleks all being able to fit one "motorised power unit" in their base or being able to fit onto the one motorised base.  Of course if the size permitted it you could use the "motorised power unit" for other (non-Dalek) motorised projects too.  If the "Motorised power unit" can be removed from the base then no additional parts are needed. If the "motorised power unit" is part of a base then it's common to have a replacement static base for when the "motorised power unit" is in use elsewhere.

It has occurred to me also, and I know that this is off-topic, but oftentimes methods and techniques are transferrable from one project to another, that the same method might be used to build the B-9 Environmental Control Robot from the Lost in Space TV show, the wheels of the hoverboard could possibly be pressed onto the tracks to make the robot move. Hmmm, next year's costume project perhaps?

Hello @Damian Trasler, I have ordered a new one, was able to take advantage of Lazada's birthday sale to get one at nearly half price. Since I'm planning to make as much of the Dalek out of EVA foam instead of heavy plywood or MDF (except a layer of plywood for the baseplate) I should be able to reduce weight to a happy level for the hoverboard. I'll give it a go!
