    Free

    Skirt DFX Files

These are the DXF files I've made to cut out my parts [from steel]. The back panel and the top and bottom frames were too big to fit onto the steel I could afford to buy so they are split into several chunks.

SHEET_1.dxf - SHEET_5.dxf are the nested parts layout to fit all skirt panels onto 5 24 in. x 48 in sheets.  The back panel is split in two to allow it to fit, the top and bottom perimeter frames are split into four for the same reason.

The holes for the hemis are only there for alignment and to lighten up the skirt a bit.

Dalek Trefoil Neck Strut Hole Marking Templates

In restoring the Dalek I am working on I found it a bit tricky to mark out the hole centres for drilling the holes for the neck strut trefoil dowels to be inserted in to. I have access to a Laser Cutter through my local hackspace and used it to laser cut a small marking template in to a piece of  PET plastic packaging.

The template seemed to work quite well and I hope others might find it useful. I realise not everyone has access to a laser cutter and, if you do, the software for it my require different file formats to import it.

I have included 4 files for making the templates with. 3 for laser cutting and one for 3d printing:
    Laser Cutting:
    Dalek_Neck_Trefoil_Strut_Marking_Template_Lasercut.ai Dalek_Neck_Trefoil_Strut_Marking_Template_Lasercut.svg Dalek_Neck_Trefoil_Strut_Marking_Template_Lasercut.dxf 3D Printing:
    Dalek_Neck_Trefoil_Strut_Marking_Template_3d_print.stl
    Materials:
For laser cutting I recommend finding a piece of flat PET packaging that is thicker than plastic bottles tend to be and also flat (which is essential) For 3D printing PLA works fine.
If you are Laser Cutting then the horizontal and vertical lines need to be etched / scribed and everything else should be cut out.
An example of the Lasercut template:

An example of a 3d printed template:

    The two side by side:

An example of using the template to mark a Neck Ring:

I hope forum members find these useful.

Mk3 eye stalk discs - laser cutting files

Here are files to let you laser cut a set of eye stalk discs for a Mk3 Dalek.  They have 32mm centre holes and diameters of 70mm (x2), 95mm (x2) and 102mm.  The files are Inkscape files suitable for use with most laser cutting software:

dalek eye disks.svg - the right size for the custom blue perspex sold on this forum dalek eye disksK40A.svg - it you have a Chinese K40 style laser cutter, it is very hard to use the file above, so cut this single disc, trim off about 1cm from the cut end, turn it round and use the next file to cut the rest of the discs, using a boundary tracing function or a test cut on paper to get your alignment spot on. dalek eye disksK40B.svg - second file for use on a K40 with the custom perspex dalek eye disks_30_20.svg - layout for approx A4 sheet of acrylic which can be cut in one go on a K40
PM me if you might like me to cut you a set of discs.

Mk 3 Skirt Frame and Skirt Panels

I basically made a digital model using the Mk3 plans and created a skirt frame that slots together, the file names have the material thickness in the name. (when i made mine i misplaced the side struts of the frame and they obscured some of the hemis, Ive corrected the files since so the side support should be directly down the center of the panel)

each file has a 10mm square to check the files are in the correct scale for laser cutting

  7. More information about "Shawcraft MK2 style Gun Hexagons"

    Shawcraft MK2 style Gun Hexagons

For my 1960’s based dalek build I required Gun Hexagons in the style of the Shawcraft MK2 plans. Rather than a solid piece with the details painted on the as per the original props I wanted the detail fully cut out creating a similar effect to the originals on screen appearance. I got someone to design and cut these parts on my behalf and these are the files they used so may be of use to someone doing a variation on the Shawcraft designs or a classic styled NSD. Photos show the piece I had cut against the Shawcraft MK2 plans.

    Neck Mesh

.dxf and .dtd (2D Design) files to make the neck mesh for behind the Heronrib on the NSD. I used the file on 380 micron card cut to 460 x 300mm (max size for my laser cutter bed), which is rigid enough not to warp when curved around the neck bin.

    NSD Iris

Three bits of geometry making up an NSD iris rotation based on the plans attached here. The files are 3mm thick as they would be from acrylic.

The geometry is placed next to one another, if anyone wants it as three separated files I can upload. Feel free to give me a shout if there are issues with the files or if you want alterations. I don't have a 3D printer, so can't test them.

    Free

Inkscape Files For Laser Cut Slats and Gun Mantles from RazorLAB

I used the attached Inkscape files to get the acrylic pieces shown in the screenshots manufactured in clear 3mm sheet.

The total cost as of 21/07/2016 was £71.83 which consists of two orders (one of each of the two files) from www.razorlab.co.uk.  Follow their instructions for getting designs added to your 'Factory' - and then to get the designs manufactured.

If you open the files it may appear as though there are no items drawn.  That is because the laser cutter requires lines that are 0.02mm thick, so they don't show up unless you zoom right in.

    Movie Claw CNC file

I went to cut this, and found that the files didn't exist here! Suffice to say, I was shocked.
So I have uploaded a .ai file as well as a PDF version of the claw as it appears in the plans.
There are two brackets and four claws. I assume most standard cutters won't go through 18mm MDF / ally/ acrylic. So I assume that the majority of people will do two claws out of 8mm MDF etc and join them together.
You will need a sheet of material that is 7" by 5" to cut the file I have made up.
I will hopefully try these tomorrow. Give me a shout if you try them out!
    All the best,
    Aaron

  12. More information about "NSD Gunbox Decals"

    Free

    NSD Gunbox Decals

These are laser cut files for the NSD Gunbox decals.
You will need plastic/ a cutter that is around 300mm x 300mm. Although the document is setup to the standard cutter size of 300mm x 400mm.
I have the line thickness setup correctly for the the Laser printer I have access to. That may need to be changed at your end to get the cutter
    to read the files.
These worked well enough for my build, you may wish to go over and sand off the edges of the decals after they have been cut.
    All the best,
    Aaron
