Evil of the Daleks - Emperor Dalek 5 Inch Model Kit
This is a model kit of the Emperor of the Daleks from Evil of the Daleks.
It should print in scale with the Character Options dalek figures. It should print with no supports required if you have a well-tuned printer printing at a high enough resolution.
Print 12 of the hemi_large, and 2 of the hemi_small, and you'll have everything needed for a Dalek civil war.

Post in Ian's Planet Dalek
I've decided to advance the timeline of this dalek a little, to somewhere between Vision On and Death to the Daleks. That is, I'm going to give it orange dome lights, and a projectile weapon.

I'm waiting on some orange Wipac lenses, but I've made a start on the weapon.

I bought a mortar fin from eBay a few weeks ago. It's in very good condition: it even has the screw cap attached.

I used 28mm OD aluminium tube for the barrel. I decided to make the muzzle and barrel as two separate parts to avoid having to remake everything if I made a mistake with one or the other.

The inner barrel is a 16mm OD aluminium tube, with a 12mm nylon thread glued in one end to hold the mortar fin. I drilled, cut and filed the slotted muzzle, and drilled pilot holes for the barrel. (You can also see here an inner tube that I put inside the outer barrel to lend it strength while being drilled.) The barrel parts are joined together using bushings made from pipe connectors filled with resin and filler.

After experimenting with a spare piece of tube, I realized that hand drilling the holes on the barrel sheath would be near impossible. It requires the precision of a drill press, which I don't have – but my dad does.

So, I sent the barrel with its pilot holes to my eighty two-year old father. He welded a jig that held the barrel firm, and which allowed it to be advanced millimeter by millimeter by a screw. He estimates it took him about three hours a day, for a week, to drill the barrel. It's the best bit of the weapon.

With the barrel back in my hands a week later, it was a matter of sanding, priming and spraying. I used Simoniz Steel and a lacquer:

Here it is assembled:

Imperial Dalek 3 pack V1.0
Imperial Dalek 3 pack set;
This file contains the OBJ files for the Imperial Dalek Drone, Commander and SWD. These Daleks are a what if, a combination of Classic Imperial parts and Bronze Dalek parts. I think the blend of them makes for an interesting Dalek design.
Please feel free to use in any of your renders and animations but please credit me.

Imperial Dalek 5 inch Model Kit
To make up for the fact that there is no sufficiently accurate 5 inch model Imperial Dalek, here is a small 3D printable model kit to create your own.
This was modelled in Blender, with FDM style 3D printing in mind (although if anyone makes a resin one, please let me know, I'd love to see how it turns out), and the parts have a tolerance of around 0.15mm to fit together.

Only the plunger and the shoulders require printing with support material, and I have provided a visual instruction booklet showing the basics of how to assemble the model.

Post in Simon's Aluminium Evil Dalek
Hi all.

I've finally finished editing the latest part of the saga.

I thought I'd give the YouTube Premier thing a go so it will premier at 7pm and I'll be in the live comments wondering what happened to my life.

Hopefully after that I can actually get this build diary updated, but to whet the appetite here is a behind the scenes picture:

Thanks. 😃

1:5 Scale New Series Dalek Taking Shape
#ProjectDalek #DalekBuilders #Dalek

1:5 scale New Series Dalek (2005) taking shape. A combination of scratch-building and 3D printing. HoseNose says: "I decided to build a 1:5 scale working model before I jumped right into a full-scale build. What I mean by a "working model" is that this isn't going to be anything fancy, painted, or RC controlled. This is a simple model for me to understand the process of how to build a Dalek and all the quirks / complications that go along with it. The end product will be a white model with visible construction lines, exposed hot glue, and all the other warts from the build."

Project Dalek Revised And Updated
Some of you may already have noticed this change over the last few days...

I'm pleased to announce that the Project Dalek Main Website at www.projectdalek.co.uk has been revised and updated. The site is now completely responsive, which means that it will display correctly on tablets and mobile devices without the need for 'pinching and scanning'. There are new menus for Site/Forum navigation, which are displayed in the same manner as those here on the Forum... across the top on desktops/laptops and within side menus on handheld devices.

Desktop view:

Handheld view:

The existing contents has been revised to update a number of articles which were out of date. Furthermore, a great deal of new information has also been included. We now have new sections for 3D printing and voice modulators along with extra pages in 'Events' and 'Virtual Daleks' etc, etc. Look out for the extra sub menus that appear within the main menu, when you browse the links.

Previously, some the pages required Adobe Flash to be installed, in order to display the contents. Given that some browsers will no longer run Flash because it is seen as a security issue, we have removed all reliance on Flash, across the whole site. All image galleries, pop-up info and virtual tutorials will now run without any additional browser plug-ins or software.

More content will be added over the coming months, to keep potential new members informed on what's going on, on the Forum. Please feel free to 'like' and 'share' the new site across your social media. Facebook members can use the blue buttons in the main site's footer to spread the word.

Many thanks to everyone who uses the site and takes the time to post their activities on the Forum. I hope you enjoy the revamp.

Ultra Bright Gun Effect
This moving LED effect has been done before , but this one is so bright it can be seen outdoors in sunshine! However it poses no threat to peoples eyes as the LEDS are inside a diffuser. Have a look at this video :

The circuit diagram shows how it works,  the 555 IC pulses the cd4017 decade counter and the outputs come on one after the other. The chip can't handle the led current so it drives a transistor for each LED, a BFY51 type capable of 1amp (1000mA). I built the circuit on copper strip board and mounted it in an oblong box about 100mmx 25mm and mounted this on the gun handle,so you only have two wires coming away from the gun (the 12v supply) which you just power up to operate it.

The LEDS only take about 120mA each so the BFY51 easily handles it. N.B the transistor casing is connected to the collector terminal so don't let any of the transistors touch each other. you will notice the eighth output of the chip is connected to the reset pin, this is because you can only physically get seven of these led lamps into the gun tube visible area, so it then resets.

The photos show the type of LED I used, these are Morrisons supermarket own make and are two quid each. (2 for £4). If you can't get these other supermarkets may sell them, and i've seen similar Leds in B and Q but these may be pricier. BTW the leds have an internal diode bridge so it doesn't matter which way round you connect them. The gun could use a frosted perspex tube or what I used was a cut down kids light sabre toy I happened to have,  just remove the red leds inside and cut it( keep the diffuser in).
