Dr How's NSD - Nearing Completion
Always great to see another Dalek nearing completion - this one is Dr How's NSD with a custom livery.

http://www.projectdalek.com/index.php?/ourpicks/

He says: "Building a Dalek is a great way of exploring the handling and use of a myriad of different materials. A Dalek build becomes a huge 3 dimensional puzzle and tests your construction skills to the max. I have basically broken down the construction of my Dalek into individual component parts, and treated each one as its own mini project…Only (Hopefully) towards the end of this diary will it all start to come together!"

Berick Playsuit Restoration
Hi all, I recently acquired an original 1965 Berwick playsuit that I wanted to share some pictures of with you.

It’s missing its original gun and eye, so I’m aiming to restore it. I have made a digital design for the gun that I am having 3D printed. I didn’t have any measurements so went off of a picture I found with it next to an original sucker, which I do have! I’ve tried to make the design as accurate as possible, but it is of course only by eye...

With that, the exterior is finished.  We just moved house, so he currently has a nice position in the sun room looking out over the garden

The interior is mostly done.  Still a bit of wiring tidying up to do.

Left to finish:
Speakers boxed - too much feedback since i made them case less
Lights for gun (got some pre-wired blue LED's for this)
Water for gun.  (I love the water gun idea from Adam's build.).

Post in Ian's NSD - Clifton
Taking a break from filling and sanding, I started on the eyeball. I'm using Plastruct parts and am using the 4 1/2" hemi and the vc-96 90 degree cone plus some of the regular parts for an eye.

I started with the cone, increasing the width of the inner hole by one ridge and increasing the number of ridges on the concave part of the eyeball. I reinforced the join with some scrapings from scrap plastic.

The base of the eyeball was next. A 1" hole was cut into the hemi and the 1" tube was inserted. I pre-cut the tube so I could keep the long tube to make sure things were vertical but would be able to detach the extra very easily. I made a disk with a 1" hole to provide extra support and glued everything together.

Chris' NSD
Another completed NSD! Read the full story here.

Currently located in Malaysia, which adds a large degree of difficulty in getting anything hardware related, but working my way through.

So, started with the Dome, and other fiddly bits just to make sure I could get them done with materials and tools at hand.
Foam board covered in plaster, and pain.  had real troubles keeping the plaster sticking.

Also learnt the hard way, not to keep adding water to plaster after it starts to go.  It turns in a stop that never hardens, and causes all sorts of trouble later!

Ok, I wanted to be a fair way along before starting to post, so have a bit of catching up to do.
Started to print the eye...

Sanded a little (my printers isn't 100% at the moment, but since im sanding and covering with bondo, I don't care that much)

Printed the neck ring block and added one of my kids marbles (they'll never miss it!)

Then I printed the light cages

Primer, then some test paint (and sanding sanding, sanding)

OK.  Having some trouble trying to figure out how to remove the pics when they show up twice.  (In the text and also in the "drag files here" part.  Any help?

@redman99 When you drag pics in and they appear as thumbnails, you're using the + button to position them. You'll also see a button with a trash can on it. That deletes the thumbnail (and the pic). I've done my best to tidy up your post.

Post in New Series Davros
New Series Davros Chair Components...

These are the pics of the bits I've purchased from Bobs Bits.

I think the only ones he has left are the brass knobs (http://www.bobsbits.tv/Component.aspx?catid=22&resid=39), and one of the circular plates that surrounds the blue dome.
The aluminium plate which is on the left side of the chair (the one with the apple in the picture), is apparantly a CNC formula 1 plate, whatever that means.

Bob was really helpful, and managed to find the orange lights, the big button which is near the green light on the console, three of the clear lights (no pics) as well as the two out of three little joysticks.
Can't wait for them to arrive. I hope the pics help other Davros builders, and thanks again.

Post in Huxster2000's Dalek
Wow, it has been a loooong time since I last posted! This has got to be one of the slowest builds in history! Turns out I managed to choose one of the most coursework intensive uni courses on the planet, not to mention my knack for procrastination and distraction.

But progress trickles on!

The collars are attached and polished, just needing the little overs over the joints and for the slats and mesh to be attached. I'm going to try and start getting the eyestalk mount and head section along a bit this weekend before I haed back off to uni on Monday.

What is a Club?

A club is a sort of sub-Forum area, where the club 'owner' (and any minions he/she appoints) can create categories for topics, add files, images, calendars, maps  etc. It's a bit like creating your own mini forum, to deal with a specific topic with a specific set of people. The specifications are entirely within the hands of the club owner, (he says, breaking into a sweat)...

Post in Possible Lamp Rods Available In Australia
Free lamp rod is available with free mailing tube and free postage to Australia members.
If you feel confident in cutting some new threads, then I can send you at least 5 lamp rods to work with.
I have 90 pieces of lamp rod from this opened 24lb box ready to go.

The 1/8 BSP brass nuts to fit are a little expensive at about $2 each, until I can find a cheaper supplier or cheaper steel nuts.

I am trying out the idea of using 3/8 inch UNF threads and using the cheaper and more easily available 3/8 UNF nuts.

Adding Project Dalek To Your Smartphone/Tablet
If you want to add a handy shortcut to the Forum, to your smartphone or tablet, you can easily do this on most handheld devices (except maybe Kindle).

Adding a shortcut saves time getting onto the Forum and adorns your device with a lovely Project Dalek logo, which will impress your friends!

Android:

Launch Chrome and sign in at projectdalek.com. Tap the menu button and tap ‘Add to homescreen’. Enter a name for the shortcut (we suggest ‘Project Dalek’). Chrome will add it to your home screen, as illustrated (left).
iPhone, iPad, & iPod Touch:

Launch Safari and sign in at projectdalek.com. Tap the Share button on the browser’s toolbar — that’s the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward. (It’s on the bar at the top of the screen on an iPad, and on the bar at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone or iPod Touch). Tap the ‘Add to Home Screen’ icon in the Share menu. Enter a name for the shortcut (we suggest ‘Project Dalek’) and then tap the ‘Add’ button. Safari will add it to your home screen, as illustrated (right).

This has been a public project service announcement.

James Burgess' Davros Sculpts
Here are the two Davros masks I've sculpted to date, first the Genesis version and currently the NS Davros (which I'll be completing soon). The Genesis masks below are all latex, and I've cast the withered hand to go with it.

The NS version will be a resin bust for display or static use, I started with a rough sculpt of Julian Bleach cast in fibreglass, because of how close fitting the prosthetic is- this acts as a guide for the rest of the sculpture. It's a very complex and organic sculpt, easily one of the best in Doctor Who. I hope to do it the justice it deserves!
