About This File

I wanted to give back to the group...

Here is a version of the 2005 plunger that I made for my Dalek. You can find more info on Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:210939

This is perfect. I have been looking into printing one of these since my girlfriend bought me filament for Christmas and I thought it would be perfect to do the plunger.

works perfect, printed this off in PLA and was very happy with the results. I have since picked up the rubberized filament and will try to print this file again in a soft material.

@elmoray  Any tips about supports and best orientation to print? - I've got a 'good' print of this, but I used supports and I'm not truly happy with the quality of the finished surface once the supports are removed.  I'm guessing that supports really are necessary? - I haven't tried without, but I suspect it wouldn't work too well. I printed it "plunger side down" so most of the support mess is inside the cup of the pluger, i.e. the most visible part.. I may try printing the other way up, so the support mess is all on the back. I suspect that the plunger cup _could_ print without support after the larger diameter ring at the base of the cup, so both the outside and inside of the plunger cup would be clean, and all the support mess would be on the back of the 2 circular discs...  I'll give that a go & report back how it turns out...

I printed mine in PTEG, 235 nozzle, 60 Bed , no supports and it printed with no mess at all. I ran it at a 40 percent print speed, and the orientation was large cup facing down on my print.
