This is my own design for an oil seal replacement.

It's not perfect, as the edges are a little faceted. Although I actually don't mind that myself as it appears more 'machine made' which I think suits a Dalek's appearance.

It incorporates an inner lip, in order to centrally locate your hemisphere. There is also a central part, which has a hole and a hexagon recess for a standard M6 head head bolt. This is to eliminate the requirement for MDF discs or other mounting methods to be stuck inside the hemis.

The idea is, but an M6 bolt through the hole (which is a tight fit to stop it dropping out.. tap it in if need be).

Then put a bead of black silicone in the recess of the oil seal and push the hemi into it. You can silicone inside as well, as there is access to do so.

The central supports are a ribbed structure, to stop the oil seal being able to be pulled away from the skirt easily.

Although the central recess will lock the M6 bolt in place, bear in mind it's still plastic so it will easily break if you put too much torque on the nuts you use to hold the oil seal on with. Best not to use lock nuts, but use normal nuts with spring washers, and some loctite. Nip them up, but don't over tighten them.

Would love some feedback, as this is my first design for a 3D printed Dalek part.

I did a quick test print on this at something like 10% infill, .3 layer height, which took about a hour & that said I hope this doesn't come across a negative review, it's more of a impression from comparing both an original seal & printed part with a 100mm hemi & not being totally happy with the overall look of either.

Personally I prefer a more circular shape than hexagonal sides, I made this mistake myself on my first printed NSD dome light cages not realising I could set the number of faces in Sketchup. That's the only thing I from a Dalek point of view that I didn't care for.

The diameter is correct when compared to a genuine oil seal, but the height is a little over, so I'd reduce this by about 2 or 3mm.

The 100mm hemi fit's snug against the ISD, gluing in place would be a sinch, but when compared to the original seal with its middle lip, the hemi looks undersized\seal looks oversized in relation & under detailed. That said I'm not wild really about how the hemi looks when inserted into the oil seal from my pictures it looks too bulbous. - What I personally would do to compensate would be to reduce the diameter slightly & create a solid outer ring that holds the hemi captive between the two surfaces & would make a nice glue channel.

I went for the reduced infill on grounds of expediency & the fact that the part is mostly detailing not load bearing, that said I would consider increasing the height of the four support struts & the nut chamber floor by another mm at least to give a little more overall strength (I didn't print a raft) especially when the screw needs to pull against the skirt panel twists to fit flush & possibly go for three or two struts especially as that would give increased finger access in the event of nut loss, It may even be possible to import a printed M6 thread in a later revision.

I can't after taking pictures post them alas, but I will find a home. In closing given the time taken for printing one of these making a mold ideally would be required.
