redman99 49 Posted February 17, 2017 Share Hi, I have printed out all the pieces for the small ring, and then plastic welded them together. Looks pretty good, and fairly light. Has anyone done this and finished? Hod did they hold up? How well did the struts attach? would like some feedback before starting on the next 2 rings. PS. I found it better to join the two together and print as one instead (my bed fits easily)
beeweasd 1 Posted February 23, 2017 (edited) Share Looking good. I only separated them so it can fit on most printers. But as to how they hold up I'm not entirely certain I've only had mine for a month or so, so sorry can't help you there. I got some 12*21 mm stripwood from b and q and the gaps needed a bit of filling to make them bigger but it was a tight fit (only because I made the gap 20*12 mm) so gluing together was no trouble (didn't need to make some supports to hold it in in place as it does it itself). redman99 49 Posted April 18, 2017 Share Ive got the point of trying to get everything glued. What type of glue did you use to attach? (presuming you printed in PLA?) I also tried screwing, and while not super strong gave a bit of support. Perhaps some epoxy inside the plastic part for the screw end to set?
