Full Scale Shawcraft Dalek Dome Model and Negative 1.1.0

About This File

The dome is based on the Version 3.1 Movie plans (so the eye slot is higher than other classic domes), though the negative and back half files are consistent with other classic domes dimentionally. You could just print two back halves if you do not want a movie dome and cut the eye slot yourself. I would advise you consult the dome dimentions in the Version 3.1 Movie plans and compare them against the dimentions of your own plans if you are building a different classic dome.

This is a 3D printable Dalek dome model that has a curved eye slot rather than a rectangle extruded one making it more accurate to the real thing (It took quite a while to figure out how to make a hole based on a curved measurement in CGI). The front and back halves are provided, but you will have to slice it up if the model is bigger than your printer's build volume. The skinny dome is half an inch (1.27cm) thick and the normal one is one inch (2.54cm) thick. There are lower poly and higher poly (HD) variants of most files. A negative of the dome is also included for you want to use however you wish.

Released

There is now a skinny variant which is half an inch (1.27cm) thick (the previous one was one inch (2.54cm) thick). Also, the skinny variant now has pre-split front and back half files. I have made HD versions of all STL files :)!! (I can go more high poly if necessary so tell me below)

Thanks for improving on my design! I'm still learning Fusion, as it's pretty limited, so I'm glad you added on to it!

How you mount your dome to your Dalek is up to you. I give the IPT file so that you can modify the dome model for your needs. The current thickness of the model is around 2.11in (53.594mm).

I thinking i Should make a Fiberglass mold over the dome, It will at least be a little easier and part of the work done for me.

The New Negative Dome Print Should be easier for people to make a fiberglass mold and use less fiberglass.

It has come to my attention that some cad programs like FreeCAD do not support .ipt (Autodesk Inventor Part) files. Soon, I will look into changing those to a more accessible file format so that anyone can easily edit the dimensions of the dome to fit their needs.

I have noticed that the STL files are so low poly that the model is too deformed to use as a dome. I will attempt to re-convert the ipt files to stl files. I think I must have had the settings wrong :(

Can this be used for the Mk 1?

I have updated the file description regarding clarification for this.
