I have an ambitious project in mind for 1/60th scale models, which is what I estimate to be the scale for D&D.· 1 reply
(5ft being scaled down to 1 inch.)
I would like to know whether I should document this process if I make a custom design using the measurements on this site, as I would be using custom shoulders for the sake simplicity.
The below image (by MightyOtaKing on DeviantArt) should give a reasonable idea for how these custom shoulders would look:

Right, wreck is in the shed. I'm using the dome on my TV Invasion build, but will have to change the light covers and paint the eye silver.· 0 replies
I'm also taking the plunger off it.
Hope to be able to try and straighten Two Zero's bumper while it is in the trailer.

What does everyone end up doing with their rejected parts? I've got one and a half failed skirt sections that are all sorts of "dimensionally transcendent" that are just lying around rent-free in my garage. I'd feel bad about binning them outright, but they're no use to my current build as they are. Any suggestions?· 2 replies

Is it normal for colorite to ignore your emails? I've emailed them 4 times over the months and only got one reply when I was asking if it was the correct email 😕· 0 replies

@RepeatedMeme Thank you! Appreciate it! Recently my order of 18mm ply arrived. I used a cut list optimiser website to lay out the cuts required. I used the file provided by @Peekaymac to see what I needed and where. It’s a fantastic resource! Once I had the pieces cut out, I laid out my base. I went to the trouble of laying the whole thing out on the “other” large panel left over from the 4x8, and wondered why it didn’t fit! Got there in the end. Then I just cut it out with a jigsaw. Here’s all my pieces “laid out” where they will eventually go! As I don’t have any fancy saws, I designed these 3D printed jigs, with the intention being to simply use a tenon saw to cut the wood at an angle. Seems simple! Alas, it didn’t really work out. The jig kept shifting and the cuts weren’t nice. I wasn’t happy, so I bit the bullet and purchased a circular saw with a tilting deck. Never turn down the chance for a new tool! As has been demonstrated in the past, my carpentry skills are not as great as some on this site! Indeed the fender is a rather complex piece for a novice carpenter, if I even meet that bar. Monkey with a saw seems to fit better! I bevelled the edges of the base, initially with the hand saw and then with the circular saw after I bought it. I also bevelled the edges of the fender pieces, but this is where things started to go awry. I don’t really feel very happy with the fender pieces. The cuts aren’t totally straight and things feel a bit all over the place. I was thinking of starting over, or altering the angles of the cut to make them easier. IE; not “proper” wood joints, but with more material than needed removed on each side, and then just mounting on the 0°/45°/90° brackets. Not sure which way to take it 😕 Either way, I’m sure there’ll be more filler involved… Till next time! -

Welcome to the Forum! What type of Dalek might the two of you be thinking of creating? It's always good to read a few completed build diaries on the kind of Dalek you will be making to see how it all fits together. A couple of build diaries from Adam_ST have indexes - his NSD and his Classic diary, so you can instantly go to the Dalek part that you are curious about at the moment. [The underlined words are linked to the diaries. A dotted underline means that, if you hover your cursor on the word, you get a pop-up definition. ) I look forward to seeing you start a build diary of your own! -
