Dalek Two Zero
Spent the afternoon fixing and painting Two Zero's bumper - it looks less saggy· 0 replies

I have an ambitious project in mind for 1/60th scale models, which is what I estimate to be the scale for D&D.· 2 replies
(5ft being scaled down to 1 inch.)
I would like to know whether I should document this process if I make a custom design using the measurements on this site, as I would be using custom shoulders for the sake simplicity.
The below image (by MightyOtaKing on DeviantArt) should give a reasonable idea for how these custom shoulders would look:

Right, wreck is in the shed. I'm using the dome on my TV Invasion build, but will have to change the light covers and paint the eye silver.· 0 replies
I'm also taking the plunger off it.
Hope to be able to try and straighten Two Zero's bumper while it is in the trailer.

What does everyone end up doing with their rejected parts? I've got one and a half failed skirt sections that are all sorts of "dimensionally transcendent" that are just lying around rent-free in my garage. I'd feel bad about binning them outright, but they're no use to my current build as they are. Any suggestions?· 2 replies

So.. the front dowels go all the way through all three rings, and the rear two dowels just keep the rings spaced? Did I get that right? -

So, not skipping neck day, here's how I got on when making the cage... Starting with the rings. Wickes unfortunately don't do 15mm plywood, they do 12 or 18mm. I had a fair bit of 12mm plywood in stock, so decided to experiment. I ordered some 3mm plywood, coated it in gorilla glue, and clamped it to the 12mm. It worked! Was it worth the effort? Let the historians argue it out... I like to test stack them on the neck bin, because if they sit evenly apart, that means the inside diameters are ok. If like me, you drill holes for your neck struts, and the rings have slightly uneven inside diameters, you may risk getting bendy struts. It was only fairly recently that I learned this trick (which is probably obvious to some, but it wasn't to me!) - when it comes to the neck cage, don't measure what you can eyeball. Sure, measure the bin as accurately as you can, but when it comes to positioning the trefoil struts, don't pre-measure anything. Mark the middle of each bin strut on each ring, and put an * on one so you can orientate them correctly later. Next, I drilled out the holes for the front dowels, and slotted them in. While the back two dowels act as spacers for the neck rings! Nearly done! There's a slight twist at the moment but I'll fix that when screwing them together. Finally, I mixed acetone with polyester resin (and some pigment) to make a watery mix, and coated the whole thing in several passes. The weather was so nice and the wood was very dry/absorbent, so by the time I got round to the start again, it had soaked into the wood and was ready for the next coat. Should be fully cured tomorrow, so we'll see how well it brushes up... -

I could probably do this if fuel and accommodation is provided -

Totally Cancelled, or Project Dalek cancelling? Monopoly have cancelled several events due to poor ticket sales last year - Comic Con Yorkshire and Comic Con Mania York are the local ones I've lost.
