About This File

Hello all.

This is a wrap up of a project I've been working on for a few months.  It is an Arduino UNO shield based voice modulator with gun sound playback, dome and gun light controls.  Development was documented in the "Arduino Voice Modulator" thread started by Andy Grove, but is not related to the "Ultimate Voice Changer" shield Andy developed.  It just seemed like an appropriate thread to put the information, since it is an Arduino Voice Modulator.

UNO Mod.zip is a wrapper for all the files needed to reproduce or reverse engineer this project.  I'll probably sell them through the Sec's Shop, but being in the U.S. my reach around the world for such a low cost item is practically limited by shipping costs.  If anyone wants to produce these anywhere in the world (including the U.S.) for yourself, or for others, I have no objection.  If you sell them, be reasonable with the price, and plan to support your own customers.  In this file are more files:

UNOMod Explained.pdf is a free form dump of information attempting to explain how it works.

UNO Mod Code.zip  contains the folder with the code file you will need to put in your Arduino sketchbook folder to upload to your UNO.  Feel free to modify it as needed.

UNO Mod Eagle Files.zip contains the schematic and board files you can use as a starting point to modify the design.

UNO Mod Gerbers.zip is the file you can send to a circuit board manufacturer to have a batch of boards made identical to what I developed.

That's it.  I hope someone finds it useful, interesting, or educational.

Hi elembivos,

I have been experimenting with ARDUINO boards for a little while now, and was very interested when I found your comments in the Andy Grove post.

I have one question, do you have a parts list? And any suggestions for suppliers. I have had a look for the IC's, but find its nice if all parts can be sourced in a central place.

Looking forward to building this project.

Thought I would start with this as I have an unfinished steam engine I must complete first, but there is always room to build small parts or accessories, Sounds boards and appendages.

Hi Nigel.

Mike is a little busy at present, but he will be along from time to time and may chime in. In the meantime, Eagle can generate a BOM (Bill of Materials). If I get a chance I will dump it out to a file for you in case you don't have Eagle. Most of the parts will be available at normal suppliers like Tayda Electronics, Mouser, RS etc., but the digital pot will likely be available on a much smaller list. PCBWay can make the boards if you go that way. I will be ordering a fresh supply of PDFMod Mk6 boards soon, I might order a set of these as well just to keep on hand in Australia.

Hello Trackhappy,

I dont currently use Eagle, but think i may have it downloaded somewhere.

I appreciate that mike is a busy person, I think we all are in some way or another.

I would be grateful for theBOM if you are able to dump out a copy.

I have ordered some boards from JLCpcbs.

Depending how this goes I may even have a go at the PDFMod Mk5 or 6 whichever is around, I am uk based so probably a little far from you to get one posted.

I have tracked down the digital pot assuming I have used the correct ref, it seemed a slightly different part number.

Thank you again for your assistance

Nigel

Bill of materials exported.

UnoModBOM.txt

Just make sure it is the through hole pin version, not surface mount. 14 pin DIL.

Mk5 is easy if you have some electronics experience, Mk6 a little harder but difficult to fault fin dif you strike problems and you need a PIC programmer to burn the code into the chip.

Hi Trackhappy,

Thanks for that, i will take it with me and order the parts while I'm away for the weekend at PANDORICA Dr Who weekend in Bristol.

Cheers

Nigel

PS quite confident with pcb building, have done it on and off for a number of years, used to make my own pcb's back in the 80's, best results were when i used LETRASET who normally did alpha numeric rubdown letters, but they also did a nice range of PCB component pads, lines, curves and most anything you needed to make a pcb.

Worked for me at the time. But what with pcbway and jlc its hardly worth making your own now
