    Free

    300mm_ISD_Gun_Collar.skp

This sketchup file produces a 3D model of a robust (chunky) classic gun rod collar when exported to STL & the 3D printer of your choice.
The reason I have uploaded it as a Sketchup file (in a zip format), is that if you select the whole model, then press , the model is surrounded by a cube which allows you to increase or decrease the overall model size, allowing you to tailor the inside diameter of the collar, to the outside diameter of the gun barrel.
It allows for about 5mm depth of support for a gun rod (once drilled out to suit your rods) to be affixed with epoxy resin of similar.
Earlier versions of the file produced one defective gun rod support - This model has extruded all pushed all the outer faces of the supports back into the main collar in a attempt to correct that defect. Should that not be the case, then I will create a new model when I get chance.
In HQ 0.1mm layer height & 5% infill it takes about 1.2 hours to print on a Makerbot Replicator 2.

  5. More information about "NSD 2005 Oil Seal"

    Free

    NSD 2005 Oil Seal

This is my own design for an oil seal replacement.
It's not perfect, as the edges are a little faceted. Although I actually don't mind that myself as it appears more 'machine made' which I think suits a Dalek's appearance.
It incorporates an inner lip, in order to centrally locate your hemisphere. There is also a central part, which has a hole and a hexagon recess for a standard M6 head head bolt. This is to eliminate the requirement for MDF discs or other mounting methods to be stuck inside the hemis.
The idea is, but an M6 bolt through the hole (which is a tight fit to stop it dropping out.. tap it in if need be).
Then put a bead of black silicone in the recess of the oil seal and push the hemi into it. You can silicone inside as well, as there is access to do so.
The central supports are a ribbed structure, to stop the oil seal being able to be pulled away from the skirt easily.
Although the central recess will lock the M6 bolt in place, bear in mind it's still plastic so it will easily break if you put too much torque on the nuts you use to hold the oil seal on with. Best not to use lock nuts, but use normal nuts with spring washers, and some loctite. Nip them up, but don't over tighten them.
Would love some feedback, as this is my first design for a 3D printed Dalek part.

  6. More information about "Imperial Dalek Eyeball"

    Free

    Imperial Dalek Eyeball

    Hey guys.
This is a STL file of the Imperial Dalek eyeball. It's in two halves that need to be printed and glued together.
It is a pair of STL files. They are much larger than normal as I have found issues with low resolution geometry making the prints come out with hard edges. If this is too much geometry I will remodel and upload again.
The front of the eye isn't as deep as the original prop, because it makes adding the front much harder! However I could do that variation if someone was keen.
The front of the eyeball itself is slightly rounded off as per the original, rather than being dead flat.
The rear of the ball has a nice flat section for tube to sit flush against, as well as a pilot hole included for drilling a central hole.
I haven't printed this file yet, but intend to tomorrow!
EDIT. The rear of the eyeball has a hole in he model. I have fixed the model, but not uploaded yet. This will be fixed soon.
EDIT- The previous upload didn't include the front of the eye. I only just saw a message about it then. (4th March 2016.)

Printable Oil Seal Surrounds and Hemispheres (Glowing?)

My take on oil seal surrounds and hemispheres... I'm not sure these are practical as it takes an hour to print a surround and a couple for a hemisphere, but here they are...
The reason I did this was because brialath has talked about a Disco Dalek and I wanted to see if WS2812B LEDs would be able to light a 100mm hemisphere. Since I made the hemisphere, I decided a mount for the aforementioned LEDs built into the surround might be good, and the traditional center bolt doesn't really work because the LED needs to be there.
Since I could I also made a solid hemisphere that might print better, and a surround with a centered bolt hole for an M4 bolt, and a little block to keep the bolt head from turning. I considered glynharper's surrounds, however I wanted an exact fit for the hemisphere I'd made, and I wanted a enough room for a 12-14mm washer to distribute the load. So that meant I needed a block to hold the M4 bolt head, the recessed version wouldn't work. Also, of course I needed a version with a spot for the LED in the middle.
The surrounds are intended to fit exactly in the middle of the hemisphere. They probably need some sort of adhesive, but for my printer it was a really close fit.
Since normal humans could reuse these for xmas ornaments or something, I put them on Thingiverse, with more info... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:726897 (including the openscad & sketchup files for them).

  9. More information about "Imperial Dalek: Gun Box Surrounds"

    Free

    Imperial Dalek: Gun Box Surrounds

This is a download for the Imperial Dalek Gun Box Surrounds. The files are in .stl format making them easy to 3D print or to use as digital references/models. This part is 1:1 scale and match the most recent revision of the Imperial Dalek plans making it plug and play to print or easy to scale to your Daleks needs. I personally 3D printed these units to create a mold that allows me to cast the part with perfect detail, SLA printers work great to get to that finished look quicker. As noted in the plans; the original props where easily damaged during filming do to the ball joint openings being thin, I would suggest slightly flexible resin for casting or 25% infill for plastic printing to give greater resistance to stress. The parts look great as 3D prints alone with some filler and primer and detail work. The surround piece has a 101mm recess in it to allow a 100mm ball joint to stick out as they do in the show. Included in the download is another file that is the same but without the recess for those that don't want it. Recommend printing these parts slow and precise at 15% or 25% infill for best results.
(Would love to see any print results from anyone who chooses to share on this thread)

    Details:
Scale - 1:1 (In compliance with Imperial Dalek Plans Version 3.5)
Parts included in this download - Gun Box Surround w/recess - Gun Box Surround w/no recess

I will keep these files up to date and if you have any suggestions or find any errors please let me know so that I may update the parts.

This is the base of the Dalek eye stalk. I wanted an easy method to access the dome electronics, so I put the eye stalk on a keyed lock. You insert the eye stalk and rotate it to lock it into the base.

The little horizontal rod on the lower side of this piece is itended to be used to attach a spring to counterbalance the weight of the whole eye.

I ended up modifying quite a lot of the pieces so they now all fit together and print really well. It's a great balance between detail and ease of construction. So I have no doubt that any member of Project Dalek would be able to assemble it. It's a great deal simpler than the NSD, which was more designed for me with other people being able to assemble it simply being an afterthought.
As such I've created an instruction manual for anyone interested in either putting the model together or simply seeing how it was designed.

    NDP Neck Rings

I created these files for Orin - my NDP Dalek build.  All measurements were taken from the PDF plans.

You need to print 12 of each file. I used PLA with 1mm wall thickness and 10% fill, but I would advise to go thicker - maybe 1.5mm, as the parts will warp under direct sunlight. Alternatively, try using ABS, which is less sensitive to ambient temperature.

For assembly, start at the bottom with Layer 1, then build up as follows:  Layer 2 base, Layer 2, Layer 3 base, Layer 3, Layer 4 base, Layer 4.  I added some strength by offsetting each base layer so that the joints did not all align vertically.

    Imperial Emperor/Davros Parts

These are the parts for the Imperial Emperor from Remembrance of the Daleks, all in full scale. Please note that I didn't include the skirt, as that is a lot easier to construct from wood or fiberglass. I also didn't slice this set, so people could cut the file to their preferences. I would recommend printing the eye in flexible filament, since I use the straight measurements for its model; the outside is higher than the inside to help make painting it easier. Also, the dome thicknesses vary from 6-8 mm, so if you want it any different thicknesses, feel free to contact me. Please enjoy!

  24. More information about "NSD Cowl Quadrants"

    Free

    NSD Cowl Quadrants

This is the NSD Cowl 1.0.0 By Macropod80, but split into 4 roughly equal sized quadrants which can be printed on printers with a much smaller build area. I created these splits for my Flashforge Adventurer 3 which only has 150x150x150 build area, and they print fine, and join together pretty well with nice tight seams. Someone more proficient at 3D modelling than I could perhaps improve these models by adding some alignment/reinforcing tabs along the joins to aid with accurate assembly and strengthen the joins in the assembled piece. In my case I joined the pieces with superglue and held them together by hand while the initial bond formed.

Whilst the seams are fairly tight & neat, they're not invisible, so the completed assembled cowl will still need filling, sanding & painting. The parts need to be printed with supports, which are not in these model files, you'll have to add them in your slicer.

I printed these in PLA with 0.2 layer height, and each quadrant is roughly a 16 hour print at the highest quality on my machine.

    Hope this helps someone!

    Imperial Dalek : Dome Lights

This is a download for the Imperial Dalek dome lights. The files are in .stl format making them easy to 3D print or to use as digital references/models. These parts are 1:1 scale and match the most recent revision of the Imperial Dalek plans making it plug and play to print or easy to scale to your Daleks needs. I personally 3D printed these units to create molds so that I can cast the parts. I cut the center piece from acrylic using the print as a template. However, the parts look great as 3D prints with some filler and primer and you can print the center disc from a transparent filament with out any hassle; SLA resin printers also work great for this kind of part. Recommend printing these parts slow and precise at 15% infill for best results.
(Would love to see any print results from anyone who chooses to share on this thread)

    Details:
Scale - 1:1 (In compliance with Imperial Dalek Plans Version 3.5)
    Parts included in this download - VHE-275 * Acrylic Disc * VT-250
NOTE: For ease of assembly, parts VT-250 and Acrylic Disc have 6.5mm holes through them, this allows a 1/4" bolt or 6.35mm bolt to go through and connect them; there are two recessed locations on part VHE-275 (Elliptical head) where the hex/head of the bolt can be mounted in place. This is not visible from the outside and ensure perfect placement of the parts and allows easier installation on the dome. All parts also have a 26mm hole in the center to allow the placement of a small bulb.

I will keep these files up to date and if you have any suggestions or find any errors please let me know so that I may update the parts.
