Mark 3 Dome stl files for lazy susan bearing ring

This is my attempt at a Mark 3 dome with a shelf designed in for a lazy susan bearing ring. I have 3d printed and assembled this but i haven't actually assembled the dome using the bearing ring so I can't guarantee it is exactly what you are looking for. The files include the complete dome, the dome cut into quarters with the lower brim separated into 1/8ths. Also included is a gluing jig for aligning the brim pieces which seemed to work quite well. The dome quarters wont fit on a 200x200 bed sorry. I have struggled to slice it up finer as Tinkercad was struggling with my request. It can be cut easily enough using meshmixer and if you slice the top of the dome off you can get 1/8th size pieces smaller enough to fit on a smaller bed. Please note all files are at 1/10th scale so make sure you increase by 1000% in your slicer!

    Imperial Dalek Eyeball

    Hey guys.
This is a STL file of the Imperial Dalek eyeball. It's in two halves that need to be printed and glued together.
It is a pair of STL files. They are much larger than normal as I have found issues with low resolution geometry making the prints come out with hard edges. If this is too much geometry I will remodel and upload again.
The front of the eye isn't as deep as the original prop, because it makes adding the front much harder! However I could do that variation if someone was keen.
The front of the eyeball itself is slightly rounded off as per the original, rather than being dead flat.
The rear of the ball has a nice flat section for tube to sit flush against, as well as a pilot hole included for drilling a central hole.
I haven't printed this file yet, but intend to tomorrow!
EDIT. The rear of the eyeball has a hole in he model. I have fixed the model, but not uploaded yet. This will be fixed soon.
EDIT- The previous upload didn't include the front of the eye. I only just saw a message about it then. (4th March 2016.)

  9. More information about "Imperial Dalek Plunger v002"

    Imperial Dalek Plunger v002

Thanks to Shane for helping me out with dimensions on this! Dalek Candi has an Imperial plunger that has original heritage. He was kind enough to measure up his plunger for me and I have build a 3D model of it based on those dimensions.

To my eyes, the front feels too big, however I haven't seen an original in hand, or printed this one yet. So I can't judge.

The rear section I have deliberate made quite soft, as the original casts are, and I feel doing a perfect computer set of straight angles wouldn't give the right feeling to the whole thing. There are only 120 verts around the circumference, I could potentially increase that if anyone wanted to make a more detailed print than that. Most people, I imagine will be using relatively low end printers that will require cleanup anyway, so I don't think it should be a problem.

Potentially if required I could split it to a front and back, so the front dish/ surround could be printed, then the rear 'tower' printed and then joined. In my experience prints often warp somewhere and joining like that often ends up with parts that don't join well.

It was created in Autodesk Maya, and the front ring should be about 120mm to give sense of overall scale. Please give me a shout and show images if you print it, as I would love to see the results.

    All the best,
    Aaron

    NSD Eyestalk Keyed Base

This file is for the NSD eyestalk base, it was created by Ray Arell in Oregon USA. I have not printed this file yet but I like the ability of the keyed insertion of the eyestalk into the Base.
    Cdngoose

    from Ray
This is the base of the Dalek eye stalk. I wanted an easy method to access the dome electronics, so I put the eye stalk on a keyed lock. You insert the eye stalk and rotate it to lock it into the base.

    comet_dalek.zip

The dome on the comet kit is not very accurate. Here are replacment domes, as well as mid sections and appendages.
There are TV and Movie domes. One of the mid sections is designed for slats, the other without. There are appendages for the movie daleks only.
These files are not really designed for home FDM printers. If you have a SLA resin printer, they should work.
I got the parts printed by Shapeways and I.Materialise in various materials.
Note: The comet daleks are not 8th scale as stated on the box. They are about 92% of 8th scale.
These files also work for the Product Enterprise Infra red movie daleks, which are the same scale. There are two of them in the attached pictures.

  13. More information about "NSD Neck Block (FDM)"

    Free

    NSD Neck Block (FDM)

This NSD Neck Block has been modeled for use with FDM printers, if you have access to SLS type printers you will be better off using Hallam's model.
I used Slic3r 0.9.9 to generate the gcode and printed it in PLA on my home built Mendel I2, with Sanguinololu electronics, Marlin firmware, and a J-Head hot end with the settings below.
    ; layer_height = 0.2
    ; perimeters = 2
    ; top_solid_layers = 5
    ; bottom_solid_layers = 0
    ; fill_density = 0.12
    ; perimeter_speed = 35
    ; infill_speed = 55
    ; travel_speed = 130
    ; nozzle_diameter = 0.35
    ; filament_diameter = 2.82
    ; extrusion_multiplier = 1
    ; perimeters extrusion width = 0.50mm
    ; infill extrusion width = 0.50mm
    ; solid infill extrusion width = 0.50mm
    ; top infill extrusion width = 0.50mm
    ; first layer extrusion width = 0.50mm
In addition to the Slic3r settings above I also lowered the layer height near the top to reduce the step effect.
Between 14.0mm and 15.3mm layer height was 0.15mm
Between 15.3mm and 16.3mm layer height was 0.10mm
Between 16.3mm and 17.1mm layer height was 0.05mm
I also enabled Brim with a 4mm width to minimize curling/shrinkage, and manually slowed the print speed for the last few mm's to minimize heat buildup. It did not take a lot of work to sand and paint the neck block in the images but I don't think I would want to do it for 24 of them. Casting is a better option for that many.

Imperial Dalek Dome lights - STL

After the plans change on the domes/ dishes I went away and redesigned my 3D model. And although the pictures here are of the old dishes, I have

since printed out the new sized ones. They seemed to work well, the pipe I believe was around 12 months, and the dome about 25. Much faster times

due to the much smaller objects.

    OLD INFORMATION ON PREVIOUS VERSION.
I needed a set of Imperial dome lights. The EMA parts looked expensive, so I 3D modelled and printed out a set myself.
When I imported them the models came in factor of 10 too small. However in STL viewer and Maya they seemed the correct size. So may have been an issue
    with the printer software.
The pipe took me 18 minutes to print, and the dome 43 minutes. So just on two hours for the full set.
I thought I would share. If you have issues, give me a shout and I will repair the files.

    NSD Gun Box Detail (FDM)

This NSD Gun Box Detail has been modeled for use with FDM printers, if you have access to SLS type printers you will be better off using Hallam's model.
I used Slic3r 0.9.9 to generate the gcode and printed it in PLA on my home built Mendel Prusa i2, with Sanguinololu electronics, Marlin firmware, and a J-Head hot end with the settings below.
    ; layer_height = 0.20
    ; perimeters = 2
    ; top_solid_layers = 5
    ; bottom_solid_layers = 0
    ; fill_density = 0.1
    ; perimeter_speed = 35
    ; infill_speed = 55
    ; travel_speed = 130

    ; solid infill extrusion width = 0.50mm
    ; top infill extrusion width = 0.50mm
    ; first layer extrusion width = 0.50mm
I also enabled Brim with a 4mm width. I should have made the brim wider as I got a bit of curling on the corners. I recommend you use a heated bed for this part.
To counteract the curling I placed the part on a disc of hardboard just bigger than the center hole. I them placed weights (cans of beans) on the corners and gently heated the part with a hair dryer until the corners dropped. They are now curling in the opposite direction which will not be a problem once bolted in place.

NSD Neck Blocks - Kresty's version

NSD Neck Blocks - Sketchup files are in the Thingiverse thing at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:727027 since PDF doesn't seem to like them in the post, in case you need to modify the hole.
I think they turned out fairly nice. They have fatter backs than fronts and match the PDF as well as I could. I had trouble finding the exact dimensions for the corner rounding or the position of the bearing though, but I'm happy with it. The hollow version is intended to snap a 14mm bearing into it, however I'm not sure it'll fit (I don't have one to try). Looking at it, it seems like the edges come in a little much, but it seems to align with both the PDF and photos I found, so...
Now I just need to print another 23 of them!

    NSD Eye Back

CREATOR's EDIT: My apologies, I only just realised this has 8 rods, not 12 going around the eye. I'll leave the files up for now in case anyone wishes to modify them, as I don't have the time right now. My plan is to sand off the rods printed on the eye, and make/glue the vessel tubing as a separate part so to not bin the one I currently printed. Just wanted to be fully transparent about this mistake!

I created my own CAD files for the NSD eye to print because I wasn't happy with any that I found, they all needed some unsightly supports.

I designed these to be easy print (I did mine on an Ender 3, came out great) The front section doesn't need supports, orientate it so the front section faces up and it'll print nicely. The back section needs a support in the middle to print the stem, which broke off easily for me. Tolerances are pretty tight and will need some light sanding to make it a little looser. Then you just have to drill your holes for your allen bolts and you're good to go!

    Classic Eyeball

This is the front half of a classic style eyeball from the 60's. It's a slightly odd size hemisphere, and the 12 degree angle on the lip can be hard to get even.
So I have made a 3D print file, presented in both STL and OBJ format for people to print if they aren't so keen on making on themselves.
I haven't printed this item yet, but plan to later today. Although checking over the file there should be no major issues. It should fit perfectly flush with a 4" (102mm) hemisphere. It has 360 isoparms coming out across the body, so shouldn't suffer from not having enough resolution on the body.
Edit- I printed the file today, and it came out without a hitch. Although the model was 90 degrees out! Please give me a shout if you print this.

NSD 'Death-Squad' Dalek claw - "Revolution of the Daleks". Fully operational

This is my NSD 'Death Squad' claw as seen on the Daleks in the 2021 New Year's special "Revolution of the Daleks".

I made this originally for my own Dalek, (Dalek Axel).  I've been constantly getting messages through my Instagram from people who want a claw, so I thought I'd release it here on Project Dalek for the community to use.
This 3D model was developed solely from screenshots and promotional images.  It looks accurate to my eye, and some deliberate (but small) compromises were made to simplify the 3D printing process.

I used Fusion360 to create this model.  The claw is split into multiple parts for ease of printing.
The ZIP file contains photos and instructions.

    NOTE:
For assembly, you will need some 3mm diameter stainless steel rods or dowels for pivots.  I bought a pack from Amazon, and cut them down to size.
You will need to provide your own arm (and Dalek) to mount the claw onto.  The claw will fit a 25.4mm (1 inch) diameter pipe.

    Enjoy!

70's Dalek eyes 2 - Genesis of the Daleks style eye

No supports required except for the back of the eye, remove supports on this part and insert the ring which is for aligning the front and the back of the eye.
You may need to reduce the size of the joiner to 99% to help it fit into the recesses, do this in your slicer and scaling.
I recommend 20% infill and 3 perimeters. Send me a PM if you need assistance!
11MM diameter hole is for the eye stalk/pivot files which I'll upload soon, the finished prints are kept together with an M10 threaded bar and nuts.
